What does it mean?
Solon does not say that wealth is bad. What matters is how it is gained. A profit has little value if it costs us trust, fairness, or the knowledge that we did what was right.
Clear values give us strength. When we know in advance which line we will not cross, we can make calm decisions even in difficult moments and remain true to ourselves.
